Re: Where are you?

Hi Bosluis

It took rather long to notice that I'm not sitting around the campfire.....

Yeah, I'm still around, but have been rather busy the last couple of months.

Will see how things develop over the next few months.

Thanks for enquiring.

Re: RHD on Montana

Hi Johan

I've never loaded RHD on my Montana, just my normal Custom Waypoints.

Why don't you use the same process as for the nuvi? You can't break anything by trying.

Re: Southern Africa Topo & Rec 2012.2 for Map Source (Nuvi 5

Joe, it seems like only a few of us are prepared to admit publicly that we are actually using BaseCamp.... I've heard quite a few people stating that BaseCamp is useless, but the secret is in your statement that "It just takes a while to find where all the good stuff is." Once you'v...

Re: Southern Africa Topo & Rec 2012.2 for Map Source (Nuvi 5

BaseCamp replaced MapSource about a year ago.
When you use the latest version of BaseCamp (Refer to the BaseCamp Forum) you will find that it actually offers more functionality than MapSource.

Re: BaseCamp software version 4.0.1.0 Windows

I am posting the following on behalf of John: The ETE that one arrives at for a route is moot, except I do cast an eye on it's reasonableness. On a long trip that will involve a or some meal/rest stops I usually add an hour at least but longer trips (by cage that is) perhaps more, since I will have...

Re: BaseCamp software version 4.0.1.0 Windows

I've lately used the default values as is and found them to be more or less consistent with real life situations. My original question was raised to see if anyone has played around with those values. On the other forum Shorty and I once had a discussion about it and some pretty accurate values were...

Re: BaseCamp software version 4.0.1.0 Windows

I know that it will change drastically using those figures, but it won't be realistic.
You will need to drive at a very high speed to average 120 from Johannesburg down to Cape Town, for instance...

Re: BaseCamp software version 4.0.1.0 Windows

Thanks for the link, Joe, it will definitely of use. Any of you guys would care to comment on the default speeds within BaseCamp/MapSource? I've bumped up the Interstate Highways from 103 to 108 to check the effect on the long distance trip that starts tomorrow morning. Any ideas for more accurate ...

Re: BaseCamp software version 4.0.1.0 Windows

It is definitely growing into something bigger and better. I like the ability to select only one route in a *.gdb file and then load only that onto the unit. (When going on leave I always plan ahead as far as possible and create possible day trips at the destination. There are therefore quite a numb...

Re: Montana Software Version 4.30/4.40 released 2012/08/29

Changed the Topic's title as the version has indeed been changed to 4.40 on Garmin's website.
Nothing else has changed though; the list of changes remain the same as listed in the opening post and even the issue date remained the same.
