Telkom Internet system maintenance

#1885

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

I received an email this morning from Telkom Internet Technical Support informing me of system maintenance being done on their system this weekend. Here is a verbatim copy of their email to me:-
Dear Telkom Internet User

In keeping with our continuous transformation towards improved services and customer experience, Telkom Internet will be conducting system maintenance.

While it is possible that you may experience a degraded internet service during the maintenance period, rest assured that your ISP will be taking every measure possible to prevent the same.

The maintenance period is Saturday, 22 June 2013 from 00:00 to Sunday, 23 June 2013, 06:00.

Please feel free to contact our Technical Support call Centre on 10210 should you have any queries in this regard.

Warm regards
Telkom Internet Technical Support
Hopefully this will go off without a hitch and the forum is unaffected.

The actual server is moving house again!

#1905

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

Recent developments have resulted in the forum server being moved to Potchefstroom at the end of July 2013 (more precisely 26 to 29 July). Telkom have been duly informed of the move and hopefully we will have them on board again to install the ADSl connection at the new premises. Things are set for the disconnection in Stilfontein to take place on Friday 26 July and the reconnection in Potchefstroom to take place on Monday 29 July. We (the forum members and my family) wish to thank all for their patience during the move and hope all goes well with the move to the new premises.

Glad you are sorted with that one Darryl. I know it was getting to the stage it was a pain where one should not have any. Hope all goes well with the move and I know that you will ensure that the down time will be kept to the minimum. It will be right on the anniversary of our first year of existence. May I take this opertunity to thank you on behalf of all the members for what you have done to etablish the forum and keep it going.

Expanding the Classifieds

#1945

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

I have given it some thought and would like some input from the members about expanding the classifieds to include other items on a for sale/trade/swap/free ad basis (the way I have advertised my Etrex). A gumtree on our forum if you will. PM me or leave comments here. Remember, what you decide is what goes, as the forum belongs to the members.

Darryl

P.S. I have changed the location of where the ads appear on the front page of the forum, so that it isn't overpowering the objective of the forum, but it's now rather towards the bottom of the front page of the forum.

The actual server moving house looming

#1948

Post by admin »

Hi all,

As you are aware that recent developments mentioned earlier is necessitating the move of the server to a new headquarters (ie. Potchefstroom) and the event is less than a week away. Whilst every effort has been made to make sure downtime is kept to a minimum, we ask for your cooperation and understanding during the move. Please note that the move is scheduled for the 26th to the 29th of July (this coming weekend) and Telkom has been properly informed of the move one calendar month in advance in an attempt to stave off possible downtime for the forum and the members alike. Thank you one and all for your help and understanding during this time.

We are back on line. The ADSL line was installed one day late that is why we only came live today. The forum was established one year ago yesterday and I think a lot happened since then. Thanks to Darryl for the time and effort put in to keep us alive. A few statistics we had 21223 visits 1882 posts under 305 topics and 263 members joined the forum.

The server relocation

#1965

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

The move went off without a hitch and everything was waiting and ready for the ADSL line to be installed. Nonetheless we are "cooking with gas" again. Thanks again for your understanding and patience.
