T4A 13.10 GPS Maps and SA Topo and Rec 2012.2

Unfortunately the subject line is not long enough to pose the question.

I am about to purchase T4A 13.10 and already have SA Topo and Rec 2012.2 on the GPS.

Should I download a T4A 13.10 map set from MapSource to the GPS, will I be able to use both.

On MapSource, you can only search/route on the product selected and a lot of the POI's on Topo and Rec are not on T4A.

Hence, when routing, will the GPS consider both map sets?

It is usually not recommended to have two map set active simultaneously. In most cases there maybe conflicts between the to maps and differences in rendering may also confuse the issue. To have both maps loaded will give you the option however to switch between the 2 maps if and when required. You can experiment having both activated at the same time and see how it goes. I know that when the first units with CN maps where introduced some added Garmap maps on their units and used it with both maps activated with various levels of success. If I remember correctly there were no fixed rule which of the map set were dominant at any one time. It can not harm the unit and you can always deactivate one of the maps when you experience problems.

Thanks for the information. I will check the Nuvi 500 to assess if multiple map sets/products can be active at the same time.

I would be a pity of they cannot coexist.

I have T4A loaded on my Nuvi 52. Out of curiosity I activated both and run a few simulations. Both Lane assist and Junction view are still functioning and what cam as a big surprize is that the issues I had with CN not navigating correct to Aldam estates disappeared. It now navigate through Virginia along a road that is classified as a dirt road on CN 2014.4. My brother in law uses a 500 and he has both Garmap Street Maps and T4A loaded. I will see him tomorrow and hear what he has to say and report back.
