It took over 20 seconds for the server to accept that last post.

The actual server is relocating

#632

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi All,

Hopefully the last weekend in September (27 - 30) will see the server relocating from Howick to North West (more specifically Stilfontein if all goes well tomorrow). Since I was performing no income earning activities (as MN would say), I have found a company to exchange my income earning potential for income and this has required a relocation. Hopefully if Telkom plays ball and all goes well, the services will be disconnected this side and be connected on the other side. The resulting downtime will be about 24 hours if all goes well.

Hi all,

Things look set to be on track for the server relocation of the weekend 29 & 30 September 2012. Telkom are on board and have confirmed service delivery at the new address for 1 October 2012. Downtime will be from 29 September 2012 until 1/2 October 2012. More details will follow closer to the time. Please watch this space for more details.

The actual server relocation is looming!!

#728

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

As you all are aware of the circumstances (some more than others, but nonetheless), the server relocation is set to happen the last weekend of September (29 & 30). I am going to delay taking the server offline until 08:00 Saturday 29 September 2012. The physical transporting of the server will take place on the 29th to the new address. All going well the server will be setup and checked that all is OK on the 30th. The last step of the stage is the ADSL connection, which should according to Telkom, should be in by the latest Tuesday 2 October 2012.

Thanks for the support and understanding from the members.

Darryl

P.S. I'll take pics of the old and new addresses, and post them here once done with the moving.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Darryl. So the length of downtime will be in the hands of Telkom. I presume that with the server being completely off line it will not be possible to have a notification displayed on the website informing those members that have not kept up to date with the development, that the move of the server is in progress.
