Ja, I also found that at Idling a low as 0,6l/h and by only switching the fan on it increases to 1,2l/h, but that would cause the car's calculated consumption to be higher, but to the contrary I found the car's to be optimistic by round about 0,2 l/100km. That said and done it works out about a cup of petrol this way or that at 100km.

Hi Swannie, fugglefeet wrote:The intriguing part is how the GPSr manages to calculate the fuel consumption. Something I will google and post here once found.

Digressing a bit and getting back to this. Garmin have released a document (probably a long time ago) that explains that the ecoRoute software on the GPSr devices uses algorithms to calculate the fuel usage of a vehcle. The exact mechanics behind these algorithms will never be known due to copyright and trademark restrictions. But at least we know that the GPSr does some number crunching in the background to provide that level of information to the end user.

Re: Nuvi 3597LMT
From Dad to Dad. I just got a Nuvi 3597 LMT. Looks great so far, but some one here on the forum called me and told me about the extras one could load such as weather. I failed to find it.
O, and by the way. This is your one and only Old Swannie, but everything that can go wrong did so all in the same time. My e-mail got hacked (still can't retrieve my password) my WiFi modem got locked and I got a new Laptop. Trying to log in to this forum, it would not except my old password, so I had to create a new Swannie2. Darryl if you could assist me getting back to my old self, I would appreciate it.
Regards

Re: Nuvi 3597LMT
Hi Swannie, Phillip. I've phoned you a while ago with reference to the Nuvi 3597 LMT. On the main screen of the Nuvi, tap Apps, next screen, tap Smart phone link, next screen, follow the prompts, if you have a smart phone ONLY ~ Android. This application does not work on ordinary phones. If you do have a smart phone, you can then link your Nuvi to the smart phone, and browse around what services you want to subscribe to. Just remember, to make use of these services, your smart phone must be linked to your Nuvi, when required.

Re: Nuvi 3597LMT
Hi,
I posted somewhere a request to write your reviews on the GPS'R you know or are using. I also wrote something about the Nuvi 3597 and will add as I get use to it. I just found out this morning that above all the great features, it also has a build in tracking utility which you can allow you to follow it on you PC at home or your smart phone. You give excess to someone on his or her e-mail address and the person can follow it with the software. No need to install software on your PC or phone. It works on a time basis from the GPS'R, maximum seems to be 24 hours on. Just tested it and it is as accurate as your GPS'R itself. So if you are on the road and want someone else to know you location, you just put that persons e-mail address in and the time. It works through your Android Smartphone, which will send the e-mail address to who ever.
One hick-up I found is that would not communicate with Mapsource, saying you have to change the interface on the GPS'R, but I found a quick work around for that. I plan my route as usual on Mapsource, safe the route to the desktop and import into Base Camp and send it to the Nuvi.
Very Happy so far.
