www.gps-users-forum.co.za - new toy

#894

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

The pic below explains pretty much the new toy we have on the forum. Hover your mouse over a topic and a preview of the 1st and last posts appear in a context window for you to have a quick glance at the "conversation".
1st and last Topic Preview.jpg
Have fun and hope this helps.

P.S. The Topic Preview works only with topics listed in View unanswered posts, View unread posts, View new posts and View active topics (will look further  ).

Hi Craig,

Can you check for me if it works? Only thing I haven't done is create the Apps, otherwise the Tapatalk module is installed, enabled and the forum is registered with Tapatalk.

Hi all,

Had a quick look at the setup and all seems OK. Will go into more detail later this evening.

www.gps-users-forum.co.za - feature

#1476

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

It took me some time to get behind the mechanics of this feature and here it is. Adding a word that is tied to a hyperlink. Here is how it works:-

Code: Select all

Google
And here is the result:-

Google

Hope this helps.

A new icon - www.gps-users-forum.co.za

#1711

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

If you look at the bottom of the forum web page, you will see an icon that looks like this:-
valid-xhtml10-blue.png
Clicking on the icon takes you to the W3C validator tool that validates the forum's web pages as meeting the requirements of being syntactically correct for XHTML Transitional documents. A mouthful for a small icon!!

This means the forum's web pages are interoperable between browsers.

Another new icon - www.gps-users-forum.co.za

#1815

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi all,

If you look at the bottom of the forum web page, you will see an icon that looks like this:-
ZBB&SFS.jpg
The ZB Block and Stop Forum Spam icon is on display here, because this forum is being protected by both antispam applications and is hopefully keeping the spammers at bay. The policy of the software is very simple when a spammer tries to perform something unwanted and it's a case "Strike 3 and you're out!", after which the spammer is banned from accessing the forum. If a spammer tries to register and is listed on Stop Forum Spam, the ZB Block software and the Stop Forum Spam database also does its behind the scenes trick to keep the spammer away from the forum. More protection for the visitors who are truly interested in the contents of the forum and have no interest in sabotaging all the hard work.

Hope this helps.

Darryl

P.S. There were a few bugs that had to be ironed out with the Tapatalk integration part, but it was successfully sorted out with a few settings.
