Hi folks,

I have done some more digging and prodding around. I connected the UPS to the server via USB and now that they are talking to each other, I can now show you graphs of the Load and Input Power of the UPS.

The live graphs are here for the curious-minded:-

P.S. I think I must change the user/pass to something else. Any suggestions? (Should read changed  )

Hi all,

I have been at it again breaking, making and hammering the poor server. Here is some more exciting stuff to look at (remembering that I only setup the logging today, so the figures shown here will not tie up with what is at the bottom of the forum webpage).

The one listed below is the nicer version of the webstats listed above.

Happy reading

Re: The actual server's animated tag cloud

#416

Post by fugglefeet »

Hi All,

For all of you that are wondering about the blue ball of words that are rotating in random directions as soon as you move your mouse over it. Wonder no more? This is an animated tag cloud, that when you click on any of the words that are highlighted in red when your cursor hovers over it, it searches the forums for that word that you have clicked. It also indexes the top 100 words in the forum and makes them available for searching through this means (a shortcut to a quick search that shows which words are the mostly used on the forum).

I must at the same time apologise for just popping this one on the forum. It is gimmicky and nice to have, but if the forum doesn't want it, no problem. It can be taken off.

Hi all,

I have done it again and now the forum has a portal (the fancy screen that gives you everything at a glance). Hope it's useful.

Re: The actual server and now Classifieds!!

#469

Post by fugglefeet »

Aaaaaarrrrgh no!! Will I ever stop?? Good news people!! The forum now has a proper place for classified ads. The screenshot below shows where to find the link to the classifieds. We also appeal to the commercial members to use this avenue when they are needing to sell 2nd hand navigational equipment and use their allocated space for company based advertisements. We now have another dilemma. We don't have categories yet for the classifieds (and please no trying to sell spouses, dogs, cats and family members  ). So we appeal to you to provide category names and remembering that this is primarily a GPS and PND forum. As time progresses, we will investigate the feasibility of expanding the categories.

P.S. There is also another feature that is available on the forum. Who can tell me what it is?

Hi all,

Frans, you noticed the extra protection that has been put in place to protect against spammers. We have already had one and dismissed him/her promptly. Going back to the picture:-
Classifieds.jpg
A little to the right of the red ringed Classifieds is the feature I was talking about. It's the Gallery. We can upload galleries of our favourite holiday pics for all to see. But there are limitations on:-

1.) the pixel size, (1280 x 1024)
2.) the file size, (256KB)
3.) the number of sub-galleries and, (5)
4.) the number of photos per gallery/sub-gallery. (20)

So we can each now put our holiday pics up and our fellow forum members can comment on them. Please remember too that they can be seen by the public at large. If there are photos that you do not want to be seen, obviously it would not be wise to post it here. On the other hand, if you have been to a beautiful place and want to share it, here's your chance to do just that and we can then see what you enjoyed.
