Custom GPS Hardware

Hi guys,

I need a cost effective GPS unit that I can load a customized map onto. Basically we are filming in the bush and the GPS unit will feature on camera (so it needs to have a very large screen like an iPad), we also need to load up Skankaan location names onto our map that we are customizing in our offices that go with our program. Our issue is not how to produce the map but what hardware to use that will be effective. Any advice?

Skankaan is the Shangaan word for cheetah.

Garmin GPS can be used with custom Maps but Not Custom Apps.

You can use Custom POI for Locations.
Garmin Poiloader in conjunction with Mapsource/Basecamp all free software (www.garmin.com)

You may be able to import the 7" Screen Dezl 780 LMT Truck GPS http://sites.garmin.com/dezl/#models or the Nuvi 2757LM which also have a 7" screen
