Remember This Before Bying A TomTOM Unit
Hi Guys, Phillip. Just to add on what Jan Horn wrote about buying another Pnd. When thinking of buying a Tom Tom unit, remember the following. You won't be able to upload any "en massa" poi's, for instance, by converting current RHD data individually, ie. 60 Km/h mobile cams. My son bought a Tom Tom GO 5000, and we converted the 60 Km/h poi's, from Gpx to OV2, for Tom Tom, online, uploaded them to the unit by using Tom Tom My Drive Connect, to no avail. Currently, Tom Tom only supplies a "free" camera subscription, for 3 months, thereafter you will have to buy a yearly camera subscription, at a hefty price, and the Tom Tom camera data base is not as extensive as the users forum RHD data, being a community contribution. Having said this, the unit otherwise performs well, and the Tom Tom Southern Africa mapset is by far better than Garmin's mapsets. Very difficult choices to make for future buyers of pnd's.
