JUCTION VIEW
Hi Folks,
I am reading up on the additional bits available with the various Garmin maps that cover South Africa and Europe.
There appears to be at least one major difference - those in Europe are forever talking about JVC files, doesn't seem to occur here.
Indeed, I can't seem to find any mention of them except on sales blurb - 'Junction View where Coverage'.
Do we have Junction View? If so, what is the coverage?
Thank you.
Ian

Re: JUCTION VIEW
There is a downloadable pdf file available at http://www.garmin.co.za/images/compare/ ... nSheet.pdf that list what facilities are available on both CN and Garmap maps. In a nutshell according to the information on that download, both the City Navigator versions available here do have junction view and none of the Garmap maps. On coverage I cannot commend as I am still using Garmap Maps only.

Re: JUCTION VIEW
Hi Ian and a welcome from my side.
I stand to be corrected, this may be the same feature as on the Nuvi 40 called Lane Assist on the City Navigator range of maps for South Africa. Basically, as you approach a major interchange with a predefined destination programmed, the screen on the Nuvi 40 will display a dual view of the road ahead with an emulated picture on the right of what the overhead signboard will look like. Much like what is depicted below.
Hope this helps.

Lane assist is the icon on top left with highlighted arrows showing which LANE you should be in, Junction View is the image on the right with a representation of the "Off-ramp"

Re: JUCTION VIEW
I agree Quintin here are pictures form the 3790 user manual with junction view and lane assist. Of course on some units you can setup a split screen as shown in Darryll's screen shot showing both lane assist and junction view

Re: JUCTION VIEW
Thanks to all, but what I really want to know is do we have Junction View coverage in SA.
Apparently, to do so, one must have a separate JVC file that is linked to the .img file of the installed map.
The simpler Lane Assist function comes as part of the .img file.
Anyone know if their system has one of these?
Thank you.

Re: JUCTION VIEW
Ian the City Navigator range of maps available in South Africa does have Junction view It is included in the map set and you do not need to load any extra files when you load your maps. It is supported on most highways and the coverage is quite extensive. According to the link I posted earlier this include City Navigator Pan-Africa NTU 2013.20 which was compiled using data from Tomtom , but other than the list I posted I cannot confirm it. Perhaps one of our CN users can post a nice screen shot of one of the intersections of off remaps.

Re: JUCTION VIEW
Extensive Junction View on the 3590 by default.
These are quite "old" I will dig out some of the latest ones! But the amount of detail it manages to dig up amases me at times!

Does this Sign mean taffic congestion with the grey sign cars piled up - I am sure if I touched it, it would have explained. (One needs a Co-Pilot!)
OK I never go into CapeTown but here I went "Virtually"!
