Maps on Garmin unit and memory card?

#2033

Post by raycomp »

I have loaded Garmap SSA streetmaps om memory card and show as gmapsupp.img

Also wanted to load City Navigator on the unit itself but noticed the following maps there.

gmapbmap.img and .sum
gmapsupp.img (same name as the one on the mem card different dates)

Are they required or can I delete.

On my unit the only map showing currently is the one on the memory card.

Don't delete the gmapbmap.img or .sum files. These are the basemap and its associated file that come standard with the GPSr.

Switch off the unit and remove the memory card. Then power up the GPSr and see if it loads the maps. If it does, check to see if the maps that it loads is the same as what is on the memory card. If they are the same or older, then you can delete it. If it's the CN maps, then you just need to tell the GPSr to use them too (not wise to have too many mapsets running on a GPSr at the same time, as it can cause erratic behaviour and resets).

Hope this helps.
