POI for Tom Tom devices

#1708

Post by Awesum »

Where can I get POI's in .ov2 format?
I normally download the Garmin POI's and convert them to .ov2
Is there a less laborious way to do this?

Welcome to the forum. Are you referring to the RHD data? Hopefully one of the TomTom users can help you out here. From the forum point of view please share the Poi's you converted to .ov2 by posting it here for downloading by follow TomTom users.

I found a ITN convert program on the net that can convert .gpx files to .ov2. I installed the program and it worked too...... good. After I converted the few test gpx files I found that all my gpx files in that folder were converted to .ov2. These were my current RHD files. I deleted the folder and downloaded fresh RHD data and found that the converter converted the new data without any input from my side. Could not find an option to stop the program form running so I uninstalled it and the converted data changed back to gpx format by itself. If you want to try the program I can mail it to you in .zip format or a link to the download.

Thank you for your assistance.
I'll give this a try.

How do I share the converted data?

We can create a Poi Share forum where members will be able to download files to. Something like the Low Sulphur Diesel Service Stations and Caravan Parks

Hi all,

I know this topic hasn't received much attention, but I hope to revive it now that I have a good and working TomTom ONE 3rd Ed. (bought second hand) to test the POI's with to see if they will work once they are converted.

Update:-

Took the Mobile_Cam_201310 data and did a batch convert of the .gpx files to .ov2 files (along with the .bmp files). Uploaded the files to the TT and found the MT's listed under the POI's. As soon as I have a working set of data, I will post a howto on getting it to work on a TomTom. Got the prerecorded sounds to work too. Will keep everyone posted as soon as a working set is available.

I used the ITN convert program to convert all the files to the Tomtom format. I also converted the pictures so that it displays on the map and a larger one that displays on the left showing the distance to the POI. I renamed all the files so that I couId use the TTS feature to read out the filename and then added them to my Tomtom 1005 using the web interface (community data).

I then set the alerts on the device using the warn when near POI setting.

It now works perfectly.

That's "awesum" Would it be possible to share your converted files on the forum with other TomTom users?
