It would be a good idea to hold back on the update until the problems are resolved. I used "Mapupdater", an older alternative to Garmin Express, last night to try and download. It download to 99% then it pop the error massage again. Trying to update should not compromise your ability to update when things are sorted out but better be safe than sorry.

Did you get any response from Garmin ?

This is the error that I picked up from one of the GarminMapUpdater log files.
The file is called setuplog.txt

[2014-01-23 23:24:40 (UTC+02:00)] | Starting download of C:\Users\dasilvarsa\AppData\Local\Temp\IMG\006-D2353-14\manifest.xml

In the GarminExpress log files I have found the same error.

Is it possible to check your setuplog.txt to see if you get the same error ?

And the puzzle gets bigger.
On the Garmin website under myMaps it shows that I downloaded 2014.3 and unlocked it on the 27/01/2014.
Also missing the +JV, perhaps that's why I still sit with the old jcv unl and gma file.
On the device it shows definitely 2014.4

Hi Guys, Phillip again. As Frans stated, the plot thickens, with reference to CN Maps 2014.40. I downloaded the mapset to my pc, using express, (download to pc. only), the mapset opens in mapsource, transferred the mapset to a sd card, using mapsource, but both my Nuvi's shows an error "can't authenticate maps". Then I retried downloading the the mapset to device only, to no avail. (see attached). Now I wonder, how is it possible to download the mapset to pc only, but not to the other options in express???????? On My Garmin website, manage maps, it doesn't show that I've downloaded the 2014.40 mapset. Up to now, no reply from Garmin Europe, to yesterdays query. Regards

I just got the same reply from Garmin Europe Phillip got, word for word, from Petra. Look like a standard "passing the bug" reply. When I used Mapupdater I got the message that 2014.4 was installed on my unit. I opted for the reinstallation on the unit only and that got as far as 99%. They have a major bug in their system and are stalling by trying to get the users to look for problems on their computers.

Ok, just like the imgage above of uncle Jan, I would say it's safe to download 2014.4 again with either Express or Mapupdate. Both install correctly with Junction view functional!

Garmin definitely fixed their balls up.

Fixed for Me as Well

Still showing 2014.3 at My Garmin but I guess that's no great shakes
3490 is calculating route much faster 2 seconds to Durban 3 seconds to Cape Town
This is a problem I always had with 2014.3 (Slow route calculations) 2014.2 was OK
