Wat word van ons Nooddienste?

#2506

Post by F.Viljoen »

Respect for life in general has taken a back seat and victims of any sort of suffering (be it road accidents, crime etc.) just become statistics. I was witness to a murder at a petrol station forecourt in August 2008 and the SAPS didn't even have the decency to cover the victim's face after his attacker gutted him like a fish. The throngs that gathered to see who it was, were drawn to the incident like moths to a flame. They just wanted to see and as soon as the victim was afforded the dignity of his identity being protected, the crowds dispersed from the crime scene and continued with their activities. CCTV footage that was recorded by the onsite cameras was presented to the SAPS brass to show how inept the local office was at handling the crime scene and the officer's in charge and on duty were taken to task. Society has become hideous in its outlook on things:- the more it is, the more thrill they get out of it.
