Garmin Nuvi 2630

Good day all
My Nuvi 2630 loaded with CN Southern Africa NT Allcan not find Upington under towns any more. I was doing a trip planner and wanted to add Upington as a stop however it just responds with "no matches found"
If however a street name in Upington is entered it finds the address. It seems as if each map update to this instrument downgrades the performance.
Does any one have any suggestions

It is only Citi Navigator(HERE maps) that can screw something like that up. Up to 2016.1 you could still find Upington when you do a search. Since the release of the 20162 and the subsequent 2016.3 update Upington vanished and were replaced by Middedorp which I presume is the marker for the center of the town. When you zoom in on Upington and create a waypoint there it still show that the waypoint were created in Upington. Somewhere along the line the Upington name were deleted and all that remained is "Middedorp" . Submitting error reports through basecamp has met with little or mostly no response. Each new release of the map set bring new surprises with roads previously correctly classified suddenly become dirt or unpaved roads I have given them a link to our error reporting pages but that seem to have been and effort in vain. I have noticed a few newly registered members for California lately but whether that is them taking notice or just coincidence only time will tell

Hi guys, Phillip. After reading the posts, I decided to have a look on my Nuvi's 3760 and 3597, to see whether I could find Upington on them. On the 3760, "no matches found", but on the 3597, I found Upington, and when you click on Upington, it changes to Middedorp?? How can there then be a difference between the two Nuvi's, using the same mapset, CN Maps 2016.3 As we all know, HERE maps from Garmin is a total disaster, once again proof of it

I played around on MapSource yesterday where I found the Upington/Middedorp anomaly. Using the Nuvi 52 today searching for an address in Upington worked perfectly but searching for a different town from where I am namely Upington also resulted in the NO matches found response. What you can do is make sure that the software on the unit is up to date. Don.t just rely on Garmin Express to check for updates. I have found that sometimes WebUpdater pick up updates that Garmin Express misses.

I entered Upington on my Nuvi 2497 LMT it finds Upington but on the map also shows Middedorp, I tried on my my computer where I got 2016.2 and 2016.2 on both maps if you type in Upington it does not show but on both if I type Middedorp it shows, so looks like this has been a problem before and nobody noticed it, I think there might be more that we do not know about.

That is true Robert. 2016.1 Upington were still searchable. They changed something with the 2016.2 release. The Nuvi 52 also have no problem when you search for a specific street address in Upington only when you the search for Poi near Upington it can find Upington. I am also sure there are lost more where this one comes from. I left the 52 in my bakkie after our last trip so I could only start playing around yesterday.
