NEW MAPS FOR NUVI 500

I have the following map installed on my GPS : Garmap SA Streetmaps 2010.3NT.
As I use the GPS on my 1200GS and in my car also, I do not want to buy another one, but the maps is not okay anymore. I am still driving in Jan Smuts ave in a town and then it has been changed to something I cannot pronounce. As I use a RAM Mount on the bike, I want to keep it.
I have some questions:
1. When I look at the City Navigator® Southern Africa NT, it does not show that it is compatible with the Nuvi 500. So is it or not?
2. Is this maps then also from the so called "free lifetime updates".

Ok then I can also buy the ZUMO 390l for about R7000 with "lifetime map upgrades". The good thing is that the free updates on the maps is now part of the deal and not like the old ZUMO 350 where you must buy the maps seperateley but then the GPS cost only half the price.

Marin I had a look, and it is not listed as compatible on the Garmin map website. Over here https://buy.garmin.com/en-ZA/ZA/maps/on ... 15535.html most likely the same place you looked. But on my old Nuvi 200 on steroids the system warned me each time I updated my Dem Maps that it is not compatible with my device but it still worked until they discontinued Dem.

Also note that even if it is compatible you cannot buy lifetime updates as that option it is only available for units that originally came with CN Maps preloaded. That means that it would cost you the full R1285 to update each time you maps become obsolete

It may be a good idea to give Gamin a call to see what your best option may be.

I'm also using a Nuvi 500 and have installed the latest map (2017.1) and it works perfectly

Thanks for the feedback. I thought it might be compatible. Your feedback will help a lot of older units users that sit with perfect usable units with outdated maps.
