The Smartphone Link app also enables LiveTrack, which lets drivers share their location so friends can track your whereabouts whether you are running errands around town or taking a long road trip.
Camera-assisted Driver Alerts
Take advantage of innovative driver awareness features available only on Garmin DriveAssist. When your car is stopped in traffic, the “Go” Alert notifies you when traffic in front of you has started to move. The Forward Collision Warning5 alerts if you’re driving too closely to the vehicle ahead, and if you drift off the road or into oncoming traffic, receive Lane Departure Warning5 alerts. Easily navigate hard to read house numbers, thanks to the Garmin Real Vision™ feature. When you approach address destinations, your navigation display will switch to a camera view, showing a bright arrow that points to where you need to go.
Putting the Smart in Smart Connectivity
When you sync your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to Garmin DriveAssist, you get great features that let you stay connected without taking your hands off the wheel. Make hands-free phone calls and receive customizable smart notifications6 on your navigator’s display. That means you can see incoming calls, text messages and calendar reminders without even having to reach for your phone.
Voice-activated Navigation
Need directions? Just say the word. Garmin DriveAssist features voice-activated navigation that responds to your commands and then navigates to where you need to go.
Wi-Fi® Keeps You up to Date
We make it easy to keep your maps and software up to date now that the Garmin DriveAssist navigator features built-in Wi-Fi. When a new update is available and you’re on your wireless home network, you’ll automatically receive an onscreen notification. That’s your cue to plug your device into any outlet and let it update over Wi-Fi while it charges. Then you’ll be ready to hit the road again.

Re: Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S
Hi all,
I bought this device and it is driving me nuts.
Apart from the driver alerts constantly saying i am departing lanes, it is the POI icons i can't remove from the screen that are the worst.
My waypoints show up as big green hearts on the display. I am seeing beds and attractions
I have unchecked the up-ahead box but the icons remain.
I just want the map view without the POI's.
Sent a mail to Garmin - they were no help.
Anyone here with the same device able to offer some assistance?

Hi and welcome Bucks_Fizz
You can minimise the audio warnings by doings the following
Enabling or Disabling Audible Driver Alerts
You can enable or disable the audible tone for some types of driver alerts. The visual alert appears even when the tone is disabled.
Select Settings > Driver Assistance > Audible Driver Alerts.
Select or clear the check box next to each alert.
But that will not elminate the irritating Icons. Some say the POI's are built into the mapset in which case it will be imposible to remove. I notice the each time I update the Lifetime CN maps on my Nuvi 52 a new version of a T4A file is added to the files on the Nuvi which I suspect contains POI's in question.
Lets hope that someone on the Forum with one of these units may be able tp help you with this

Re: Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S
Hi Jan,
Thanks for the reply.
The audible alerts i disabled when i first turned it on. Force of habit hehe.
I suppose i will have to live with a cluttered screen. Have tried everything.
I have to admit i am close to returning the unit. Little things bug me...
The unit mount has a tiny "knob". So mounting on the windscreen essentially has the unit seem "very" far away
Also in order to have the camera align, i have to mount the unit in the middle of the windscreen (height) which obscures vision. - Granted this is because of my vehicle (Mazda 2) which already has a 7" display on the dashboard.
Trying to find a decent dashboard mount is a nightmare. I found a generic one, but it now means the dashcam is aligned lower so the drive assists (lane depart etc.) don't work properly.
Then i lost my 3D maps which i am really ^%$ about hehe
Maybe i should have just kept my previous 3597 LMT

Re: Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S
Try paying around with the map detail settings. You may be able to find a setting where the icons do not show, but it may also effect the display of the minor roads on the unit.

Also perhaps Zoom levels.
Switch auto zoom off and try manual zoom out till icons are gone

Re: Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the advice. Tried them all - no joy :)
What you can do, is click on one of the icons which brings up the display of what it is. Then click back to Map view. Icons are then gone.
Only problem is they come back if you ever go to the front screen and then view map again, or if your route is recalculated.
Painful, but at least there is a way to minimise the clutter temporarily

Re: Garmin DriveAssist 51 LMT-S
Have you tried it with Tracks 4 Africa files removed/disabled?
I don't know if your device gives you the option to disable certain Poi's
If not,
Under Poi directory, Cut and paste to Desktop first, so that you can move it back afterwards if no difference.
