What Maps have Been Installed?
What Maps have Been Installed?
With MapSource you had a Map Tool which you could use to select maps to be downloaded at a later stage by "Sending to Device". Where is this on BaseCamp? How can I see which maps I have downloaded?

Re: What Maps have Been Installed?
Shaun hope I understand your question correctly. Is the question how to install maps to your GPSr from Basecamp? Basecamp does not really have a facility to install maps directly form the program like MapSource. The link they provide redirect you to Mapinstall. so you may as well go that way in the first instance. To access the the link form Basecsmp you need to connect your device to the PC. The name of the device will then appear in the library and device area. Click on the internal storage folder below the device. Then click on install maps which you will find in utilities which will start Mapinstall. Follow the instructions
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Jan, your understanding is quite correct.
Once you have downloaded, what can you refer to, to see what you have downloaded. There is no list.
In the case of MapSource, maps selected would have a pink colour, and when you flag Map on "Send to Device", they would be downloaed. This list of maps appears on the Map tab.
I trust you have experienced your GPS getting lost when the road you are travelling on, does not have the map downloaded to the device.

Re: What Maps have Been Installed?
Okay I under stand the problem now. The blocks that turn pink when you select them is called "maps tiles" which put together make up the map. In Mapsource you can select "Maps" and get a list of the tiles you selected. In Mapinstall that is not posible. The tiles still turn pink but you have to zoom right in and scroll around the area to make sure that you have not missed a tile and the area you want to load ois completely covered. Human nature is to choose the easy way to do things. I still find is easier to use Mapsource and therefore still prefer it. Unfortunately the new Nuvi models are not compatible with Mapsource.

Thanks Jan, quite correct on the Map tiles and thanks for the confirmation. Hopefully some functionality in the next BaseCamp release will address this.
