Windows 11 Launch

Win. 11.png
Hi all,
Windows 11 is all set to launch on June 24. As far as the next generation Windows is concerned, this time the company can make some changes in the user interface. The codename of Windows 11 can be Sun Valley. Microsoft is soon going to launch Windows 11 for personal computer users. Windows 10 was launched in 2015 i.e. five years ago and since then it is running. Now the company is all set to launch the new Windows 11.

Will Windows 11 be free??
“Traditionally, a version (Windows 8 to Windows 10) upgrade is offered for free or discount to those who are running the currently supported version of the latest OS,” said Michael Cherry, senior analyst with Directions on Microsoft, a firm that helps businesses with their Microsoft software planning.
“Remember for consumers this means a version essentially made available in the last 18 months. For those who are lagging too far behind (Windows 7 to Windows 11) there is often a fee.”

Hi all, further to the above topic, will your pc/laptop be able to run the new Windows 11?
For your PC to run Windows 11, it will need a processor that has two or more cores and a clock speed of 1GHz or higher. It will also need to have RAM of 4GB or more, and at least 64GB storage. The PC will also need a TPM security version of TPM 1.2 or higher and Secure Boot Capable support.
There is a app from Microsoft, here at, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to download and install the Health check app.

My lap top

Here's the specs sheet of the Intel Core i5-7200U:
Processor Name Intel Core i5-7200U
CPU Family 7th Generation Intel Core "Kaby Lake"
Number of Cores Dual-core / 2 computing threads per core
CPU Clock Speed 2.5-3.1GHz
Cache Size 3MB
Memory Support DDR3 (1866 MHz max. speed)

DDR4 (2133 MHz max. speed)

Also TPM 2.0

Yet according to the health checker the processor does not meat the minimum requirement.

Intel CPU Windows 11 compatibility list

Only chips from Intel's 8th generation or newer will be compatible with Windows 11. Think mid-2017 onward.

 There is no way that I am going to replace a 17 month old laptop just to have Win 11. :moon:
Usually take 5 years before they tell you to change or......

They will in any case take that long to sort all the Win 11 bugs out!

Hi Frans, yes I fully agree with what you said. :celebrate:
The Windows 10 support lifecycle has a five-year mainstream support phase that began on July 29, 2015, and a second five-year extended support phase that begins in 2020 and extends until October 2025.

Hi all.....for information, just a word of warning.
Beware of fake Windows 11 installs, it is packed with malware...https://mybroadband.co.za/news/software ... lware.html
PC users looking to try out Windows 11 early should stay well clear of unofficial downloads of the preview OS.
Security research firm Kaspersky has discovered that many of its users were downloading versions of the Windows 11 preview build from sources other than Microsoft’s official website.
