This isn’t the news Gauteng motorists were hoping for. Fikile Mbalula has signalled that e-tolls will now remain in place across the province. It’s quite possible that the Transport Ministry won’t make a final announcement until the Local Elections conclude on Monday 1 November – after all, extending the lifespan of e-tolls will prove to be a very unpopular decision amongst gatvol locals. SANRAL, meanwhile, has chosen to stay silent on the matter… for now.
