Sikes On The Road.jpg

"Spiking Hotspots" that every Gauteng motorist should be very wary of
,
Just a friendly reminder to motorists traveling at night times, be very vigilant,
A resurgence of criminal activity involving the placement of spikes and other objects on Gauteng highways has raised concerns among motorists.
These deliberate obstructions are aimed at forcing drivers to stop and attend to their vehicles, only to fall victim to attacks and robberies.
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) has issued a warning, urging heightened vigilance from motorists.
The incidents, often occurring on weekends and during nighttime, and have been concentrated in specific areas, including:
~ N12 under the Merridale bridge in Witbank,
~ From Olifantsfontein R562, to OR Tambo Airport on R21
~ N3, Leondale and Barry Marais Roads.
~ N17, between Rondebult and Heidelberg Roads,
~ And the notorious R21 Motorway at Delmas......this road is also known for Hijackings, from Johannesburg to Witbank.....(Emalahleni)
*In response, the EMPD, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, is enhancing police presence in these hotspots.
The department advises drivers to resist stopping when encountering spikes or experiencing tyre punctures, especially at night.
Instead, they should proceed slowly to the nearest garage or police station.

Hi all, further to this topic, a friend of mine notified me of another "spiking" area. The N12 from Potchefsroom to Klerksdorp at night time is also now added to the list. Be very vigilant when using these roads at night time.
