Hi Rocks. We have changed your topic heading slightly to reflect the contents of your post. It is debatable weather the cyclops data is based on our RHD. I have never used cyclops so I am not qualified to comment. I know the earlier version was not as extensive as the RSD. The new cyclops has been improved and now also include direction of travel recognition to eliminate false warnings. I doubt that it is based on the same system Frans has developed. I am sure Frans will commend more extensively when he reads your post.

Till the end of February their data were different from ours, with a lot of doubles as well as 4 junctions with FC that were triplets. The data they offer now is again encrypted, but in a different format/code than previously used by them. The software that I used before, can't decrypt it and change it to .kml at all. So I will only be able to comment truly to the question once I can get hold of software that can decrypt the new code they use in the .gpi file. I bought the Cyclops about two weeks ago, but can only compare it to ours under simulated conditions, and that takes a lot of time. What I noticed, is that their MT's (the few that they have) proximity distances vary quite a lot. Some that I came across so far are covering stretches of 5km, 2km and 1km.

Interesting to note that although cyclops may be compatible with all the Garmn units, it has been developed particularly for units sold with CN maps. It is recommended that for the other/older units you download the trial version first before you subscribe. The subscription is for one unit only you need to subscribe separately for each unit At R199 per annum each.

That is for the same reason our RHData is specifically aimed/positioned for Garmap Mapsets, because of the differences between the "roadlines" of the two products. So they know it could happen that you don't get a warning with Garmap SSA, but with CN you will.

Hard work for sure and if ANY organisation copied the RHD without the Community's permission some lawyers will be made awfully rich even at a contingency as low as 10%. One can assume though that our Fixed Monitors would or should be the same. This doesn't mean that portion of our data has been copied (except if we dig a little deeper) but if the other types of Hazard we include in the data suddenly pops up then
the Community would have to decide what claim we will make on the illegitimate use thereof (and that won't be a small number of moola at all). The question then arises as how to divide this largess across the membership but we'll cross that bridge when (if) we come to it
Striving to succeed is more important than whatever comes second best
