My BMW Navigator V ( Garmin) has stopped showing the speed limit indicator for each road , the next turn indicator ( Top left corner) the junction view is also not functioning at all while navigating.
These functions are working in Simulator mode.
I have reloaded the maps , updated the firmware and also did a master reset.
It seem you have done all the checks needed and it is weird that it works in simulation mode while navigating.
It could still be that the file is corrupted and during the reloading process it is not overridden because the system see the original file and skip it.
The junction view and is not included in the main body of the map data but id in a separate file in the Garmin system/jcv folder.
You can try downloading the maps again to a cloned thump drive and then copy the jcv file to your gps.
Herewith a quick summary ... Have a 8 GB or larger thumb drive. Create folder \Garmin and copy file \Garmin\GarminDevice.xml from your nuvi to the same folder on the thumb drive. With the thumb drive connected to your computer (and your nuvi not connected) run Garmin Express and update/install the map to the thumb drive (the thumb drive will be recognized by Garmin Express as your nuvi). Now delete any old JCV files on your nuvi from folder \.system\JCV. Finally, copy the JCV file in folder \.system\JCV from the thumb drive to the same folder on the nuvi.
The above was originally written with a Nuvi in mind so pleas change whatever is appropriate for your BMW Navigator.
The file for the 2019.1 update is D3530230A.jcv and is around 5.6mb in size
Thank you for the response, unfortunately it did not solve my problem.
I did follow all the steps , but Garmin Express does not allow me to install maps or do anything with the BMW navigator expect for checking for a firmware update, or installing new voices. With the .xml copied to a thumb drive, it only states the device is up to date within Garmin Express, not giving me a function to update/reinstall file or maps. Using the restore backup option, it only restores my trips, no system files.
Junction View ,speed indicator and all other functions operate 100% in simulation mode, but once navigating all those functions are missing.
Is there a way to reinstall all operating files, as there might be one that is corrupted or missing?
Or
Is there a way to "fool" Garmin Express to see an older firmware version, and do the update ( perhaps restoring a missing file)?
Is there a specific reason why the BMW Nav V has limited functions with Garmin Express , but my Nuvi 52 has full functionality.
I presume you update the maps on the unit through Garmin Express?
I have never worked on the BMW Navigator so I am using the Nuvi 52 as my guide.
If Garmin Express recognize you cloned thumb drive as the BMW Navigator does it display "map options" With the Nuvi 52 the option allow you reinstall the maps currently on the device.
Are the maps on both your devices the same version. If so you so could see if the jcv file from the Nuvi 52 solve your problem.
On the other hand I may be barking up the wrong tree and some system file may be corrupted.
